We have asked from all of our online friends to track her dwon. here are some of sitings of Floozie:

We just returned from having breakfast at spirit Mountain Casino in Grand Ronde, oregon, and the place was a shambles. Floozie had shown up to play the slots and had brought severl friends that she had picked up at the aquarium in Newport. her entourage included 2 brown pelicans, 12 puffins, a sea otter, plus a huge crowd of people. It wasn't that she she was doing all that well with her gambling, but her outrageous behavior was causing a near riot. She was strutting around like she owned the place, ddemanding shrimp ice cream for herself anf all her friends. We got out of there before the police arrived. I'm sure it will be on teh news tonight. I'll let you know. -Karen Neal

STOP!! Floozie was spotted here in West Virginia. She was bungee jumping off the New River Gorge Bridge. She was having so much fun! Until she discovered that we don't have any shrimp in the New River. She thought maybe she could get some from baskins robbins with all the flavors, but to no avail. there was none. She was onlyy able to get nails done in purple polish... she left very quickly in search of her Pink Shrimp Ice Cream. -lady Di

Floozie was last seen swimming on lake Minnetonmka in Minnesota . She was wearing a hot pink with lavender polka dots bikini. On a hot humid day like today, it is the only way to cool off. i suppose tonight Floozie will be looking for a cool quilt shop to snuggle down in the soft stuff that makes her very happy... before she gets there though, she may have to stop for ice cream... not sure if we have shrimp flavor in Minnesota, but I'm sure there's a Walleye flavor! - Evy Chritton

I saw Floozie getting s drink after having a swim in the Galapagos Islands. She was hanging out with her friends at the lake soaking up the sun. everyone need a bit of a getaway.

Floozie is home agin now and she will post more of her adventures soon.

Vultures Crash Party

Vultures Crash Party

We had a really great Memorial Day Weekend Bash here! Six of my cousins flew up from the Bahamas, there were 3 Roseate Spoonbills from the local refuge, a couple of pelican stopped by, and my old friend, Taco, the toucan showed up, too.

Taco is retired from the Conch Republic Naval Air Force, where he served for sixteen years. He's been an undercover spy in Cuba and the jungles of South America and lots of other exciting places, too. I met him on the beach last winter. He told us us all kinds of tall tales and really scared the baby Sand Hill Cranes with his stories of pirates in the Caribbean. He also grilled fantastic shrimp on the barbee using his secret sauce - which includes ground scarab beetles!

During dinner, there was a great crash and the upper screen panel over the pool caved in as six ginormous, ugly, black, hairy, vultures plunged through! (Dad is really mad about that and about having to clean all the feathers out of the pool.) We all fluffed our feathers and hissed and honked at them in irritation. They were looking for handouts - for a Vulture Rehab Center. They could ceratainly could use rehabilitation if it would teach them manners. Imagine crashing my party like that!

The Rehab Center would be a large paved asphalt lot with a wide yellow stripe down the middle, and it would be ringed by old dead tree stumps for the vultures to perch in. There would be attendants who would provide meals of road kill three times a day. Vulture paradise!

They held out their little tin cans for us to put coins in. Get a life! I chased them away in a big, hurry!

Sharks in Cozumel!

My Cozumel Adventure

I landed in Cozumel with my beautiful Rasta plumage and met up with the local flamingo flock. They were enthralled with my new feather-do and wanted hear all about it. Some of the girl flamingos were obviously very jealous of all the attention I was getting and one of them tried to pull out my tail feathers. Imagine the nerve! I kicked her a good one.

Well, one really handsome boy-mingo caught my eye. His name is Enrico - he's tall and pink, and he can really sing, too. We spent a lot of time together and he taught me how to snorkel.

I loved seeing the colorful fish on the reef and even caught a ride on the back of a big sea turtle. I could dive down to the bottom of the ocean and swim along the sand for a long time, with my very beautiful Rasta curls flowing in the current behind me. I was a beautiful sight to behold!

As I swam gracefully along the bottom a huge shadow appeared over the top of me. When I looked up there was a gi-normous, black killer shark closing in on me! He'd seen those pretty Rasta culs flowing along and thought I was gigantic shrimp cocktail. His teeth chomped onto the back of my head , and if I hadn't been so very quick on my wings, he would have had me for lunch.

I high tailed it out of the water and headed for home as fast I could fly! I'll tell you about the adventure I had on my trip home next time.

Rasta-mingos

Hey everyone! I've been very busy helping Mom with quilt shows all winter. But now that Spring has arrived, I 've got some time to myself and I am in the Bahamas catching some fun in the sun.
When I arrived here last week I was out dancing in the surf, and I met this really cool flamingo named Marley who has the most amazing feathers I have ever seen. They are long, curly Rasta plumes all over his head! Not only that, but they are this absolutely to die for shade of pink - and you know how I love pink!
Well, after we got to know each other a bit more, he decided to share his secret with me. (Now don't tell anyone.) Thers is this place..., No I can't really say where, but it's in the Bahamas, and it's a tiny little cove with crystal clear turquoise water, really inviting. You'd really love it, but I just can't say where it is.
In the water there are these very special shrimp that have almost magical properties if you eat enough of them. Marley goes there every day to dine and that is how he's gotten the gorgeous curly pink feathers. You have to eat a really lot of them - I started yesterday and I was so full I couldn't fly afterward. In a month or so, I'll have the lovliest pink curly feathers anyone has ever seen. This is the ultimate health spa for flamingos.
No, don't ask to join us, because humans are not allowed. If one comes close he is chased away by an angry flock of very pink flamingos.
I'm sure I'll be in demand with all the fashion magazines very soon, but I'll post a photo of myself for you to see how gorgeous I become!

My Skiing Adventure

I just had the most fabulous time on my first ski trip to Colorado. Don't ask me the name of the resort, because I didn't pay attention to that. When my cousin Flo-danna called on New Year's Day, I just grabbed my scarf and cap and took off. It was a little rough flying into the north wind the whole way, but so worth it.

The snow - Oh my! I was on the side that won, of course.

The next morning we hit the slopes bright and early. Since flamingos have such large feet, we do not need to wear skis, but I wanted to try them anyway. Those things are as long and skinny as my legs! Well, I got all tangled up in them and couldn't tell my tail from wing tip, so I did finally give up and go commando.

There were 10 of us in all, and we made quite a colorful sight sliding down the slope all in a long column. The great thing about having wings is not having to stand in line to take the lift back to the top. We could fly over the other skiiers in the cars and drop snow on them!

The hot cocoa with marshmallows by the fire at night was wonderful and cozy.

But my favorite part was making snow flamingos. You probably made them when you were a kid, but you called them snow angels. Well, snow flamingos are much prettier! It was fun to make 10 in a row and then hide benind the trees to watch the expressions on the humans faces when they saw our beautiful snow art work. Here is a picture of me hiding behind a bush and laughing. Maybe you can't see me because I am so well hidden.

We're off to a Quilt Show in Fort Myers, Florida and I'm looking forward to some sun time!

Floozie's Thanksgiving Adventure

I'm sure you are anxious to hear how my date with Marshall went when he came to meet my family over Thanksgiving. Well, it was a disater and he's not the bird I thought he was.

He arrived on the bus and Dad went with me to the bus stop to pick him up (remember he can't fly). He complained all the way back to the house about the traffic, the road construction, his butt hurt from sitting on the bus for so long, and on and one. The worst part was he didn't even give me a kiss!

So then, dinner came and everyone was gathered around the table and Dad began to carve the turkey. Marshall thought it was a flamingo roast and he totally lost it - he jumped into the middle of the table. Food and dishes flew in every direction and people were running and screaming. Marshall was squawking and flapping at Dad and pecking at him. I bit him hard on the neck (Marshall, not Dad) to get his attention and then I chased him out the open French doors and around & around the pool. I'm much faster than he is, and of course I can fly, so when I caught him I bit him again! He squawked really loud and crashed through the back screen panel and left a flamingo shaped hole in it as he ran off into the woods. I haven't seen or heard from him since then. I don't know if he made it back to the zoo of if he has gone AWOL, and frankly, I don't care. (You though I was going to say something else, didn't you?)

Meet marshall the Flamingo

Hi everyone!

I am in love! His name is Marshall and he's a very handsome pink flamingo who lives at the Dreher Park Zoo. That's him on the left getting ready to give me a kiss. You can't see much of me, but blame the photographer.

I met him last month and it was love at first sight for both of us. He had a trampy girlfriend named Amelia, and he left her on the spot for me. She wasn't so happy about that and she went after him and pitched a real hissy! She squawked and flapped, bit and honked, kicked and made a general ruckus. She bit Marshall a good one on his head and the zoo keeper had to come out and separate them. Poor Marshall had a wound on his head and had to go to the infirmary and have it bandaged. I stayed by him and wrapped my neck around him to comfort him. That tramp got sent off to solitary confinement for a week and it served her right!

Marshall can't fly because his wings are clipped, so I have to fly to the zoo to see him. Mom doesn't know about Marshall because I've been going at night while she is sleeping. Flamingos are very good long distance flyers and do most their flying at night, so it's been easy to be home before dawn.

I plan to introduce them to each other at the World Quilt Show in Palm Beach County. I hope mom likes him because he's really the one! maybe I can get Mom to adopt him so he can come & live with us!

Meet the Virginia Flamingo

I had a great time in Virginia last week! We were at the sewing & Quilt Expo in Chantilly and it wasn't far at all to zip over to the washington Zoo, so I made the trip a couple of times a day and mom never even knew I was gone from the show. A couple of my cousins live at the Zoo and it was fun to visit them and see the new baby flamingos. They are so cute with their fuzzy grey feathers and fat beaks. I'm really glad that I am not a mom, though. It was a great beach adventure! I met some really fun dolphins and hung out with them. They showed me some old ship wrecks from the pirate days when Blackbeard roamed the waters.

The most interesting people I met were some aliens who dropped in to say hello. Last week I met up with Megan, my (human) cousin and did some cool stuff in South Africa. We went clubbing one night with some of her girl friends, and I was the only flamingo there, so everyone really loved to watch me dance.

The most fun I've had yet was bungee jumping off the Bloukrans Bridge, the highest bungee jump in the Africa. It is 216 meters high, with a full seven seconds in free fall and I bounced 5 times! I am the very first flamingo to make the jump, so I expect to be hearing from the Guiness Book of World records soon. You can check it out in this link link I found. I wore purple flowers on my head and a long purple silk scarf around my neck. I looked very lovely and so did the bride. The reception was held in a pavilion right along the Indian River and a cool breeze blew across everyone as we watched the bride & groom dance together for the first time. I really loved the music and wanted a chance to dance with the groom, so I flapped my wings and got on down to the music! Later, when the bride threw her bouquet, I got right in there with all the single girls, excited at the thought of catching the bouquet and being the next bride. Since I have the advantage of wings to lift me off the ground, of course I caught the bouquet. Eric and Sandi released three white doves just before they departed on their honeymoon. It was a pretty sight and I wanted to see where the doves lived, so I flew right off with them, my purple scarf trailing behind me across the blue sky.
